Play Studio: Our Memories. Our Stories. (2026), Photography by Latoya Fits

	Inspired by the process of filmmaking, Our Memories. Our Stories. is a&nbsp;play space for families of all ages, in response to Tate Britain’s Duveen comission, When the world falls silent, cinema speaks by Zineb Sedira. &nbsp;&nbsp;
Families are invited to explore their memories, create scenes together, and view them in our screening space.&nbsp;

	Childhood.Memories.00s is a collection of video complications, archival objects and interviews that recalls the joys and excitement of the Y2K era — held in a recreated tween bedroom. Not only were visitors transported back in time, this exhibition redefined what is considered an archive and widened the conversation around how the past can be preserved and engaged with.
Video works exhibited:

BABY.GAMER.VIDEO.MIX (2022), Video, 28:17 mins Drawing on connections between sound and memory alongside the use of sound as a branding tool, BABY.GAMER.VIDEO.MIX is a compilation of music from gaming consoles like the Playstation 2 to TV and computer games of the late 90s/early 00s.&nbsp;

	It’s A Dancing Ting (2022), Video, 26:45 mins It’s A Dancing Ting is a video collage celebrating dance as an art form present in music videos and everyday lives.

	Goin’ Hard (2022), Audio, 10 minsThe rising popularity of Funky House in the late 00s is reminsided in this sound piece through the memories of being a 18 year-old Brunel University student.

	Drawing on traditions deriving from the Asante People of Ghana, To Those Before Me, is an immersive voyage exploring the diaspora through an improvised dance performance juxtaposed with mesmerising animations and an impactful soundtrack using 360 video technologies.

Within Asante traditions, dance and music are used as a mode to uplift and heal, with hand movements and footwork serving as mediums to represent emotions. For instance, the Adowa dance is performed at funerals, while the Asaadua dance is observed at more lively celebrations.Aligning with the Asante viewpoint, the film examines these traditions through navigating the mind of a dancer, who performs an improvised sequence which represents her heritage. Whilst historical cultural moments are re-imagined through a striking 3D animation to visualise oral histories which are rarely documented or available in archives. Ultimately, To Those Before Me, contributes to widening the multiplicity of history behind dance and music through providing an Asante perspective. This project was funded by New Creatives, a national talent development scheme co-funded by BBC Arts and Arts Council England.

Funded by Arts Council England, this research project explored experiential ways to engage with silenced histories. Focussing on Black British experiences, questions surrounding the ownership and accessibility of archival materials examined whilst unearthing possibilities on how technology can preserve and create learning environments for related communities.

The work produced was featured in the Childhood.Memories.00s exhibition held at Metroland Studios in London. &nbsp;

	Making Sense is a community platform celebrating creativity with a social purpose. As the project’s producer, I shaped the concept of the platform, devised the look and feel, researched and sourced content and developed a programme and newsletter aimed at young people. Once developed, the platform was trialled amongst Art teachers in schools within the Borough of Southwark as a tool for having classroom discussions around race.

A JOURNEY TO STILLNESS
2020
Multi-screen and short film experience dissecting the migration experience.

	<img width="664px;" height="443px;" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-7IKwIzySndUY6iL0gbCUpcJfGKCm1cHc7an2F_8kmDcuHSzR0LpnBKNHJr1mS7SJ5S16uflgWldoVJn3naF26OzWrrgZkBZwxljG3auKb1WOL9kRZL8YXgI7fCzM65l2tsXhljBdH9eugy4LROh45Cm1AIVHcLBzDUcvPXyanNm7CYFZenCd2jWWHld1Y_G" style="width: 664px; height: 443px;">

	‘A Journey To Stillness’ is a multi-screen installation that dissects the migration experience by drawing on the memories of Ghanaian migrants who moved to London during the 1980s and 90s. The experience utilises collage animations, immersive soundscapes and archival footage to create snapshots highlighting the nuances of everyday life in Ghana and London. The project will unpack the socio-political environment of Ghana during it’s early years of independence with the transformation of Ghanaian highlife music during the 1950s to 1990s running as a parallel narrative; a commodity that was globally exported. This project aims to conceive a new approach to viewing and interacting with silenced histories with the view of reversing the stigma surrounding resettlement.

The film’s narrative interweaves various accounts relating to the migration experience, collected from multiple archives and conducted interviews whilst creating fictional scenes to clarify gaps and silences in researched histories whilst providing a full bodied experience. The film is broken down into chapters. Chapter One surrounds early memories of Ghana post-independence. It embodies the vibrancy of Ghana embarking on a new journey of independence but also the frictions as the once segmented notion must move as one. Chapter two focuses on the military overthrowing the first president of Ghana, foreign loans from the UK and America multiplying and the impressions left from colonialism through an account of an interviewee’s experience of seeing his brother for the first time after travelling aboard. For Chapter three, Thatcher England will be explored. The pre-conceived notions of England the interviewees had will be juxtaposed with the racial injustices that were commencing in London. This section will also explore the new life Ghanaian migrants carved for themselves during this time period.

Overall, this piece aims to dismantle the negative ideologies surrounding migration into the UK.
